I had a post all scheduled for today, a little peak at our engagement photos we took over the weekend, with an update on our wedding plans and some gushing about love and other warm feelings. But I feel like it would be appropriate to hold off on that, just for one more day, and say a little something about the tragedy that occurred last week.
I can’t even fathom what those families, that community, is feeling. I don’t even feel like I have the words to formulate a sentence worthy of last Friday. Others have tried, writers much more talented than I. But I still want to try. I want to join my heart with the hearts around the nation, around the world, who are grieving for those innocent souls. It’s the very least I can do, to put my pathetic attempt at condolences out there for the world to read.
I cannot begin to imagine the pain and loss you are feeling. I won’t pretend to understand why horrible things happen in our world, nor will I sully your heartbreak by trying to find something to blame the tragedy on. It happened. But you are not alone. An entire nation grieves with you. Total strangers, myself included, are sending our prayers and thoughts and hearts to you. It’s so very little, compared to what you have lost, but it’s all I have and I give it to you freely.
In a world that seems to dark and scary, it can be hard to imagine love still exists, but it does. And we are heaping it on Connecticut.
